Saturday 6 November, 2010:
I was very excited to hear that the Mr.SA semi-finalist's would be involved in the Bridal Expo this year and on the same day we would also have our 1st encounter with the Mr.SA Judges, I was one of only 7 guys that was chosen by the Client to walk in the fashion show. Also this would be the 1st time that we would meet some of our fellow Mr.SA semi-finalist as the biggest part of the top 50 were there for judging.
I had the privilege to work with some of the guys already through-out this competition with charities and events so I already knew a lot of them but there were some new faces and we all quickly got acquainted.
The 7 guys went down-stairs to the Expo to do fittings for the show and to get our arms and chest's bronzed for the show! As we were on our way networking opportunities came up and I met a lovely lady Christa from
Bright Smile, I quickly spoke to her and she was very interested to get involved with Mr.SA. I took her details and moved along to backstage where we did a quick rehearsal with Eleanor Ford the Fashion Production Director.
As we waited we watched the show before us with some gorgeous girls that were dressed beautiful for the show, we also met some of the celebrities and people behind the scenes!
Finally it was time and we got dressed back-stage for the show, I had the honor of walking with
Charne Marwick(Miss T Show). She looked stunning as we elegantly pulled off our role in the fashion-show; I was truly mesmerized by her beauty!
After the show it was posing time for the photographers & press. Once we were finished I spoke to Charne a bit and some people approached us and asked if we wanted to take a picture for a couple's competition, so we did it(not as a couple of course). Haha J to our surprise they were representatives of the "Royal Elephant”(Hotel & Conference Centre), they were so impressed with us that they invited us for a free dinner on the house as a "Date" of course, hehe ;) . I also got the Details of Tracey Maller Bamber – HLM Marketing & Sales Manager for “Sibaya”(Casino & Entertainment Kingdom) through this process.
NB! (Highlight)
After everyone left I took the opportunity to go to the "Vip" at the back of the venue to meet some of the people behind such a successful event. I spoke with internationally famed SA fashion designer
Peter Soldatos, he was one of the judges of the fashion show and I learned a great deal about him and his work, I was alos surprised that he noticed me on stage and was impressed. Also in our conversation was Sabc 2's Collen Lemawane that does the News on the weekend live, I finished the conversation with Collen and spoke about Mr.SA and how we can get them involved. Collen proposed a concept, we would do a 3 scene interview with some of the guys: In the gym, having lunch and at an actual event. Immediately I connected the concept with my upcoming fundraiser the 23 of November with Heinz Winckler for the Chrysalis foundation:

Collen and I are currently in discussions over this concept & I hope it works out because it will be so great for Mr.SA and my fundraiser! :)
After all the fun it was time for the formalities; The Judging!....But that's a story for my next blog. :)
