Earlier this month when I was involved with the Just plain breakfast crew from Jacaranda, Dianne Broodryk(Jacaranda) extended an open invitation to the Mr SA guys.
What is Sisters With Blisters?
Sisters with Blisters is an annual event that is aimed at raising much needed awareness on women and child abuse in this country. It falls in line with the International 16 days of Activism against women and child abuse which runs from 25 November – 10 December.
Now this event has become HUGE!
For the past 4 years, Jacaranda 94.2 and 1st for Women together have staged the Sisters with Blisters walk in November, starting with over 600 participants in 2006 to over 4500 participants in 2009. Men are also encouraged to take part in the walk – they don’t have to wear stilettos, flat shoes are also welcomed, it is the interaction with the people and the messages one gets from various speakers / survivors of the crimes and to also be aware of what is being done by the NGO’s to help those that are most vulnerable in our Country. Dogs are also welcome, but need to be registered online.
The Mr SA guys really went all out on the day, we also got publicity from Pasella, Etv, kyknet & Ktv!
