Wednesday 10 November, 2010:
I was very excited after this morning’s interview with the "Just Plain Breakfast" show but now it was time for my next appointment with Rhona Scheppel at the Chrysalis Foundation. I was very eager to meet Rhona as she is the Director of the Chrysalis Foundation and I could not meet her at my previous meeting.
I learned a great deal from this amazing woman and could see where the drive of the Charity came from. I just became so much more passionate about the charity as she explained exactly what type of work they do in the field and the very important role they play in these girls’ lives.
See what it comes down to is that there are girls who don't have parents, who don’t have anyone that even taught them how to set a table or tie their shoe laces. All these small things we take for granted everyday and we do not realise how lucky we truly are.
Interesting enough we spoke about a project which Rhona wanted to start for a long time now as I explained how I connected my own childhood with her cause. The concept would be to get male figures in to start a program for boys with the same problems as the Chrysalis currently only work with girls.
I am positive that something in this direction can be done!
Regards
Lian Fourie
